"Tapologo",
a Setswana word indicating the theme of "peace and rest" expresses

TAPOLOGO
A place of hope, healing and compassion |
||
| Bishop
Kevin Dowling of the Catholic Diocese of Rustenburg who has been involved
in various community activities in the greater Rustenburg area of the
North West Province, realised that the HIV infection rate and the number
of people with AIDS was reaching pandemic proportions in the region, and
resources available to deal with the effects of the disease were limited
if not non-existent, and not effectively coordinated. Out of this realization
was born the Tapologo Programme. "Tapologo", a Setswana word
indicating the theme of "peace and rest" expresses well the
Mission of Tapologo which is the guiding response of this faith based
community-centered HIV/Aids programme. The programme was conceptualised
in 1993/4 and is managed under the auspices of the Catholic Diocese of
Rustenburg and consists of the following sub-programmes: |
||
| | Outreach and Home Based Care Programme | |
| | Orphan and Vulnerable Children (OVC) Programme | |
| | Anti-retroviral Therapy (ART) Programme | |
| | In-patient Unit (IPU) and Hospice | |
